Hester Kuipers, Maite Suarez, Shaun Palmer

IAVI is a non-profit scientific research organization that develops vaccines and antibodies for HIV, tuberculosis, emerging infectious diseases (including COVID-19), and neglected diseases such as snakebite. IAVI’s mission is to translate scientific discoveries into affordable, globally accessible public health solutions.

IAVI accelerates scientific discovery and development by fostering collaborations among academia, industry, local communities, governments, and funders to explore new and better ways to address public health threats that disproportionately affect people living in poverty. IAVI’s network of clinical research centre partners in Africa and India helps strengthen in-country research capacity and supports the training and education of the next generation of scientists. IAVI’s science, research and partnerships work to ensure that biomedical innovations are designed for broad global access, and that the vaccines and antibodies that IAVI develops can achieve accelerated introduction in low-and middle-income countries.

IAVI Europe supports the organization’s work in the region through partnership management, resource mobilization, advocacy and communications. Run from the office in Amsterdam, The Netherlands, where it is registered as a Foundation (Stichting), a team of 10 staff manage national and Europe-wide programmes across key EU countries and the UK, as well as EU and Global Health Institutions. The programme is supported by a network of civil society partners and engages a broad spectrum of global health stakeholders including R&D partners, donors, political and scientific community, civil society, and the media.
